The 8 most-pulled tarot spreads — how to read each.

Three-card, Celtic Cross, love, yes/no, career, daily draw, relationship, year-ahead. The spreads every reader uses — what each one is for, how to lay it out, how to read it, what to avoid.

How to choose a spread

Match the spread to the question. Closed yes/no questions get one card. Quick check-ins get three. Big architecture questions (relationships at a turning point, major career forks) get the Celtic Cross. Daily practice gets one card every morning. Year thresholds get twelve. Pulling a Celtic Cross on "should I text him?" wastes the spread; pulling yes/no on "what is happening to my whole life?" wastes the question.

Smaller spreads are often clearer. A three-card spread, read carefully, is usually more useful than a sloppy ten-card spread. The discipline is in the reading, not the size.

Re-pulling muddies the signal. The first spread is the spread. Re-shuffling because you do not like the cards teaches the unconscious that you are not actually listening — and the readings get noisier the more often you do it. Pull once. Sit with it.
