Wild Rose
Rosa canina

For resignation and apathy — the drift through life without protest or engagement. Bach's remedy for the soul that has stopped caring.
What Wild Rose actually treats
Wild Rose is Bach's remedy for resignation. Not despair (Sweet Chestnut) — that is too active. Not hopelessness (Gorse) — that still wants something. Wild Rose is the deeper flatness of having stopped wanting. The person accepts whatever life brings, not from spiritual equanimity but from disengagement. Bach saw it as a kind of quiet surrender to mediocrity. The remedy returns the will to care — the protest, the joy, the engagement that makes a life feel lived.
The state it meets
Resigned apathy. "It is what it is." No complaints, no enthusiasm. Accepts whatever circumstances bring. The light has gone out of the eyes. Going through motions without protest or joy.
The shift it brings
Return of vitality. The will to care, to protest the unacceptable, to celebrate the joyful. Engagement with life as something worth being awake for. Color returns.
In love
Wild Rose in love is the partner who has stopped fighting AND stopped delighting — present in body, absent in spirit, with no complaint and no celebration. The work is to feel something again, even if the first feeling is anger.
In work
Wild Rose in work is the employee who has stopped quitting AND stopped engaging. The remedy supports either fully showing up or honestly leaving — not the half-life of resigned presence.
A 5-minute practice
For one week, deliberately notice one thing each day that you love — and one thing each day that genuinely irritates you. Both. The point is not the content; it is the return of preference. Caring requires being moved, in both directions.

- Where in my life have I quietly stopped caring — and is the not-caring a wisdom or a wound?
- What did I once love that I have stopped noticing — and could I let myself notice it once today, fully?
- What would I protest if I let myself — and what would happen if I let the protest become voice?
