Merkaba (also: Merkavah) is a Hebrew word that means *chariot* — specifically, the chariot of God described in the prophet Ezekiel's vision (Ezekiel 1) and elaborated in Merkabah mysticism, one of the oldest strands of Jewish esotericism. Geometrically, the Merkaba is two tetrahedrons (four-faced pyramids) interlocked at their midpoints, one pointing up, one pointing down — the three-dimensional version of the two-dimensional Star of David. The mystic teaching, drawn from Merkabah, Kabbalistic, and later Egyptian-revival sources, is that this shape exists around every human body as a *light field* — and that with the right meditation it can be activated to spin in counter-rotating directions, creating a vehicle the soul can use to travel between states of consciousness. Sceptics call this poetry; practitioners call it experience. The geometry itself is undeniable: a perfect interlocking of masculine (upward, Shiva-like) and feminine (downward, Shakti-like) tetrahedrons, the same pattern as the Sri Yantra in three dimensions instead of two.

Two regular tetrahedrons — each tetrahedron has four equilateral-triangle faces. One points upward, with its apex at the top of your head. The other points downward, with its apex below your feet. They overlap at your heart centre, interlocking through your torso. Seen from any side, the figure is a Star of David. Seen from above, the figure is a hexagon. Seen from any angle, it is the geometry of *meeting*.
