䷜29 · The Abysmal (Water)
Water flowing into water — the doubled abyss; the season the only way out is through.
The Hexagram
Hexagram 29, *Kǎn*, is the image of water above water — the doubled abyss, the doubled danger, the season of compounded difficulty. The classical name is *The Abysmal*. The hexagram counsels: *if you are sincere, you have success in your heart; whatever you do succeeds*. The lesson is precise and severe: the danger is real, the abyss is real, but *the way through is sincerity*. Water always flows; it does not stop in fear. *Kǎn* counsels: become like water — keep moving, hold the form of the situation, trust that flow itself is the way.

A hard season in the work. The crisis is real. The way through is the daily honest action — not the heroic fix, the daily flow.
