The Hexagram
Hexagram 30, *Lí*, is the image of fire above fire — the doubled flame. Fire in the I Ching is *the clinging* because fire has no body of its own; it always clings to fuel. The classical name is *The Clinging (Fire)*. The hexagram counsels: *perseverance furthers; it brings success; care of the cow brings good fortune*. The lesson: brilliance depends on what it clings to. The flame is only as good as the fuel. *Care of the cow* — tend the source, the practice, the foundation from which the brilliance arises.
