The Hexagram
Hexagram 47, *Kùn*, is the image of the lake with water drained out below it — the dry well, the empty cistern. The classical name is *Oppression (Exhaustion)*. The hexagram counsels: *success; perseverance; the great man brings good fortune; no blame; when one has something to say, it is not believed*. The lesson is severe: this is a season of resource-exhaustion. People will not believe what you say. The wise behaviour is to keep your inner sincerity intact even when no one is listening, and to *not waste energy explaining yourself* to those who will not hear.
